Anything newer and it has to come back to the airport since it is "new"
Just book a reservation with the airport return and then take the car to the local office to close/open your new contract - they can always close an airport contract, but be mindful of returning nicer cars, especially specialty cars, back to the airport when you're done with a particular rental cycle and want to switch or you'll get on their naughty list if you keep giving their nice cars to local offices.
