Curious as to whether the preference for certain products has to do with scent, efficacy, or a combination of both? I have never found products by Bvlgari, Hermès, Asprey, Molton Brown, etc. to be particularly different from one another other than in terms of scent.
In general, I find most products to be far too heavily scented. My preference is for hotel toiletries that incorporate a local product, even if it is only for a one or two items like soap and conditioner.
I find a lot of the higher end names are far too overpowering like Bvlgari and Hermes. My favorite is this local Japanese brand named Pelican soap that does the toiletries at Andaz Tokyo. Very subtle, seasonal Japanese scents (yuzu, bamboo, Japanese limes) and I enjoy asking for an extra bottle or two to enjoy later on.
