BA metal decides my next destination - help needed!
I have a choice of 2 destinations - Singapore or Buenos Aires the next couple of months and need you guys to help me decide which!
Appreciate these are probably two very different countries (never been to either), but for all intents and purposes let’s just assume both destinations will offer me similar experiences. Similar flight lengths – both are just shy of 14 hours each way so really the choice comes down to what metal is being flown on – the 747 to SIN and 777 to EZE. Cabin will be CW to make the most out of time in the air.
So what I need to know is - is there really any appreciable difference between the BA 747 and 777 CW cabins? Apparently the upper deck of the 747 is good but I’ve heard that most of the BA 747 fleet are quite dirty/antiquated – is this true? This could be a deal breaker! Only ever flown WT+ on the 747, which felt like something out of the 1960’s to be honest!
What might sway my decision is the current BA offer of free upgrade to First when purchasing a return CW ticket. This obviously doesn’t apply to the LHR-EZE route, as the 777 variant does not have a First cabin, however the 747 does. Have never flown first before, so could this be a chance to try it out, or for reasons above should I not bother?
Am I insane for letting aircraft choice dictate my travel plans? Lol
Thanks,
R.
