Assuming that you are willing to fly in Coach, then I would say yes, it is "likely" -- unless you are planning to travel over Oktoberfest.

Look for "Saver" availability on UA flights at united.com; if you find them, call Aeroplan, and have the Aeroplan agent hold the award seats for you as you immediately transfer your MR points to Aeroplan so that the agent can complete the award booking.

When searching for award flights on united.com, ignore any flight options involving either Air Canada or Lufthansa: Aeroplan redemptions on either of these carriers will require payment of significant cash surcharges.
