Rookie Question / PM fault missed Int'l flight

Self admittedly I am a novice at the search tool here, but I tried and didn't see anything that fit the bill.

Have a buddy of mine in Peru who shot me an email this morning, and I don't have an answer for him

Totally his fault, but he is going to miss his flight (DL150) from Lima to ATL tomorrow AM, as he has positioned himself logistically impossible to get there on time

I honestly don't know what the policy is with a once a day, international flight missed by the consumer.

He is platinum pushing Diamond if that has any bearing, coach ticket, he didn't send me the fare class

Assuming he can get a seat the next day (plenty open right now), Will they charge him full fare one way? Change fee? Fare difference?

I cant think of a time where I have missed an international flight on by my own doing. Knock on wood. So I have no experience with this

Thanks in advance
