I didn't even realize that there was one going on until a bunch of people started asking me that same question! We happened to be checking out of the Kempinski on the day of the race, so we went over to Tatranská Lomnica on the way out of town and saw the festivities.

Ha, it just sort of fell into place as part of a bigger trip. We had tickets into Budapest and out of Berlin, and we were spending a good bit of time in Krakow. What to see in the middle? Well, we were already doing 3 big cities so we felt like Bratislava would be too much of the same. And we love the outdoors and the mountains, and wanted to get a bit off the tourist track and see some smaller towns. So after finishing up in Budapest we rented a car downtown and set off towards the Slovak border. That day we saw Miskolc and Lillafured, then ended up in Kosice for a night. The next morning we drove through the hills to Spis Castle and then hiked Sucha Bela in Slovensky Raj in the afternoon, ending the day at the Kempinski. The following day we hiked Krivan, then checked out the next morning and drove over the mountains, spending some time in Zakopane before dropping the car off to start 4 days in Krakow.
