Aside from the 3 types of suites (Imperial, Executive, Classic) there are 2 room types on the
"Luxury" floor
Premium Deluxe (33-39 sqm)
Premium Superior (30 sqm)
Then there is "Floor 7" with 3 types
Luxury (40 sqm)
Deluxe (33-39 sqm)
Premium (30 sqm)
and finally the "Comfort floor" with the same room types.
As a Plat I'm entitled to at least the Luxury Deluxe room or possible the Classic suite, aren't I?
Thanks for JayK for reminding us to the non-SPG site.
I'll be staying at this property (second time) in October, we'll see how it'll go
Thanks for bringing this website up.
I have also stayed at Sheraton Miyako Tokyo quite a few times, and I never remembered being properly upgraded as well. Now that there is an alternative website, I really have to join in the questioning - is the hotel really following the SPG upgrade rules?
My next point to bring up is this: what website is that?
Is that also a Starwood website? Or is it a 3rd party website?
As far as I understand, a hotel is a starwood one, or it is not. If the hotel is a Sheraton, then similarly all official websites are part of Starwood.
If not, it is a 3rd party website, in relation to Starwood.
The next point here I will bring up is this:
If that website is a 3rd party website (in relation to Starwood), and the hotel is selling rooms that SPG.com / Sheraton.com is unable to sell, then BRG filings should be allowed, if we book the luxury category rooms on the website mentioned above.
BRG Starwood cannot disallow the BRG, since indeed some 3rd party website are selling rooms of a Sheraton hotel, which on spg.com/sheraton.com, there is no availability.
So Sheraton Miyako Tokyo appears to be in violation of some rules. I think SPG may want to have a review here.
And if anyone here is planning to stay at Sheraton Miyako Tokyo, pls try out the BRG by using the luxury room categories found in the japanese website.
Either the luxury rooms should be available for SPG Plats to be upgraded to, or the hotel is not a Sheraton/Starwood. Or they will continuously allow BRGs on the luxury rooms.
