In my experience, the US F seats have some of the worst pitch in the industry and therefore also have some of the worst recline in the industry. The seat itself isn't terrible in the off chance US has cleaned it in the past 5 years. Many of them look absolutely filthy. They also lack adjustable headrests which is unfortunate, as well as the pleather texture on the seat itself (very sweat inducing).
On the one hand, I want to say I find domestic F on AA, US, DL, etc. fairly comfortable for the length of flights I take in those seats. On the other hand, when I think to the domestic/regional F/J products of other airlines around the world, I realize I've just become accustomed to this subpar product.
However, it's not exactly practical for AA to fly the Dreamliner ORD-RAP ever, or for DL to fly the 777 ATL-OKC. I imagine few domestic routes could sustain that level of volume, and many that might be able to - and have in the past, i.e. 747s JFK-LAX - are now served with such frequencies as to make it mostly impractical.
So when these airlines fly regional jets, or even A320s or 737s, on 3-hour domestic routes, I find the F product to be reasonable and (gasp!) enjoyable. As an AA flyer, I am especially happy with their new aircraft.
But maybe I'm just too easy to please
