So I have no idea what the poster is is talking about when he calls domestic F simply Y+.
I do and the criticisms made in respect to the comment are dismissive. I believe he was questioning the liberal use of the term "First". The comment was rather polite as I would have used the term intentionally misleading customers. How about we look closer to home?
Air Canada calls its domestic premium class "Business". The 319 has 38-39 pitch, and 21.1 seat width. It's economy Preferred Seating on the AB 320 is 35 pitch and 17.8 seat width. West Jet uses 36-39 pitch, 17 width for its premium economy. (And yes I know West Jet uses the ever reliable Boeing B737,not AB)
American and US airways were leaders in reducing service and cramming as many customers onto decrepit aging equipment. They have used the term First on domestic products in an attempt to package a crap product as a "premium" service. It's like United describing is cramped B777 4 abreast coffin seats as "business" when everything provided, from meals, to seats to service is premium economy at best.

First class services is more than just a seat. Its a way of treating customers and it is non existent at AA domestic. Calling something First when it clearly is not, is downright silly. Maybe it fools some people, but I'd rather the honest approach of Jet Blue and good ole Delta.
