I spoke with supervisor at Swiss who said that he could see the ticket number (he confirmed by reading me the eticket number), but he claimed that the ticket was never issued by UA. That really doesn't make much sense to me since he could see the ticket number.
However, when I log-in to manage my booking on Swiss using my LX confirmation number i'm seeing this under the online check-in portion of the screen: "We could not find a valid E-Ticket for your flight PVG-ZRH in our system. Please proceed to the airport for check-in."

I've spent half the day on the phone with UA and have gotten nowhere. I've been hung up on when asking to speak to a supervisor and when trying to conference call LX into the conversation.
