On a recent departing flight one of the flight attendants admonished pax over the PA to keep their window shades fully closed. "This is for a reason" she said.

We taxied and took off in a darkened cabin during the day with shades closed. Even the exit row shades were fully closed. I find this disconcerting especially in light of the British Airways B777 that was engulfed in fire on the runway at LAS. Pax (especially in an exit row) need to see outside during ground operations so that they can quickly evacuate through a safe exit and not open the door into flames.

Anyone know if WN has a policy regarding this issue - especially during taxi, takeoff, and landing?
