Let me add my vote for Vicenza. Even if you spend the day there and spend the night in Padua (only 20 minutes away) you won't regret it. It's a beautiful city. Try Reghetti's cafeteria style resturaunt near the Cathedral. Great food! An opportunity to try regional dishes not found in most places.
