Allow me to jump in here and clear up a few inaccuracies in today’s post.
First of all, I love that people peruse my smack carefully enough to identify my various assaults on the English language, including but not limited to bad grammar and poor spelling. I sincerely appreciate the gentle corrections.
I'm most impressed however, with the more arcane pedantry. One vigilant reader observed that my ticket stub was not for a United flight as I had previously claimed, but rather a Delta flight. I immediately corrected the mistake.
Then, another reader pointed out - after an apparent internet search - that there was no such thing as Delta Flight 1822 into or out of LAX. It didn’t exist. This was also correct, and I fixed the oversight. My confusion was brought about by the fact that my original flight was in fact, United 1822. Shockingly, that flight was delayed two hours, and I was anxious to get home. So I switched my flight to Delta, which I completely forgot. That flight in question was really DL 2758. (You can look it up.)
Now some of you might suppose that my memory would be a bit sharper, given that I claimed the entire sequence of events took place "yesterday." In fact, the flight in question happened last Friday. I wrote the account you just read in the backseat of the Uber that took me to my apartment from the airport last Friday night. I planned on posting it last Saturday, but only got around to posting it today. Thus, “Yesterday,” should have read, “Last week.”
That mistake however, will not be corrected, since future readers will see it as a distinction without a difference.
Carry on,
Mike
