I actually think it is better if plated food is consumed at proper dining tables, such as those in the buffet area and the corridor leading to it.
Balancing plates on laps whilst sat in an armchair by a coffee table seems far from ideal to me.
I have always found it possible to get some form of table when I want to eat then move to another area to read and have a drink perhaps.
If the idea of only putting the menus out in the food area is the new plan (which is what seemed to be the case when I was there on Tuesday), then I think that is quite sensible.
