For me the QANTAS F lounge at SYD is still the best in the world. Great service and fantastic food. The lounge has the most amazing view over the airport and then to the Sydney CBD. It is, I think, the perfect package.

The new Pier lounge is the new second place for me. It is a great space, and I am hugely impressed by the interior design, the attention to detail, the food and wine offerings, and the staff. The thing that lets it down is the location (recognising that Cathay can do nothing about that) - being low in the building, with a view that is cluttered, means that it can't quite manage the same wow factor as at SYD.

After going to the Pier this week I went to the F lounge in the Wing. This now feels very second best. I still find the black marble really confusing and irritating. It is an impressive lounge but not one that feels comfortable in the way that the Pier does. So the Pier F lounge is far better than the Wing. If I was at the Wing end of the building I'd still go for the QANTAS J lounge, which I think is a great space (and they do fantastic coffee).
