The problem is...what would the change the policy to?
I see the SDC flexibility as one of the best and most valuable parts of purchasing a FC ticket. And often I don't see enough of a difference in fares to risk not being confirmed on a flight I know is viable at the time of booking (could just be my route patterns).
I can't imagine there are enough people playing this game for DL to really make such a change, especially since a potential consequence is people like me (though maybe I'm alone in this) will almost certainly buy fewer FC tickets if the SDC rules become more like the current rules in coach.
Paying $100 more for what is essentially a "same-day flexible" ticket is worthwhile in my book. Paying $100 more for a bigger seat on a 90 min flight and having my drink in a real glass....not so much.
