I put in a SM to chase trying to find out my statement date- but haven't heard back as yet. Should I try for 2016 posting or get the Plus asap and get both to post in 2015? In my experience, when you first receive a Chase credit card, the first payment date is wonky. It fluctuates through the first statement until it actually closes. You need to just call Chase and ask them when your first statement closes. Or else just wait to see when the actual closure date is before you panic.
However, you may have lightly jumped the gun in applying for this card if your plan was to get the points for 2016. You should have wait until at least October I think. You have to do your spending by the very beginning of December. (3 months from the date you were approved regardless of your statement cycle.) More than likely that spending will post on a statement in December.
