Arrived DFW yesterday morning from BOG. I had some coffee with me, so answered yes to the "food" question.

When I was exiting, I pointed it out first - said to the agent, "I have coffee. Is that something I should be declaring?"

He said it was better to declare than to be caught with something. That said, he said it's fine and waved me through.
