Re VISA for Iran, newspaper article says they are simple for OZ citizens and cost $US35 here. I am sure for US citizens etc, it will be a very different story. But thanks for advice, as it will vary upon each of our passports I guess.

I just asked ebookers.com (discounters) for Lufthansa (*) r/t ex LHR, and fares for LH not too bad it seems - down near lowest price. Iran Air does not even show! I'd much prefer LH than Iran Air of course, for points/upgrades/safety etc!
