Good example, since it illustrates the trade-offs between broad utility and deep functionality. A tub/shower combo is usable by almost everyone, but not ideal for anyone. It's annoying for both showerers (the curtain rarely works right, the layout is wrong, etc.) and bathers (curtain gets in the way).

I've been in hotels (e.g., Hilton Bali) that have sliding wood panels between the bathroom and the sleeping area, so it can be fully open or more or less closed. I've been in plenty of hotels where some rooms have glassed-in bathrooms. Typically, the toilet is enclosed in opaque glass while the rest of the bathroom has clear glass. It's fantastic to shower with a view of the city or beach or whatever. I can see an issue if traveling with a friend or relative with whom one wants some modesty, or someone sensitive to light (but I've found most hotel rooms suffer from light pollution, so I use a high-end sleep mask).
