The NRT MSP flight usually lands in G and if your MSP/ORD flight is DL mainline it will depart from D, F, or G. So I wouldn't worry you won't have the run from G to A/B. I wouldn't be worried.
The complication that I see is if you're checking a back and have another flight from ORD to XXX not on DL if they would check that through or not, or even if they do if they would make it to the other carrier in your connection time at ORD.
