I purchased an economy class ticket on the American airlines website. When I looked at the breakdown of the tax component, I found:

FIRST/BUSINESS CLASS SERVICE TAX $50.30 USD
INDIA

I see that this tax is being levied by the authorities in India (this is a flight between US and India). I want to find out if there is a channel to question this tax because I am not flying First or Business Class.

Now, when I searched for the same route on other websites, i see a similar fare but they don't break it down the way AA.com does. Is AA.com being too transparent to make me question this? Or, they are mislabeling it?

Is this business as usual or worth questioning?
