This is not an area I spend a lot of time, but as far as I can tell you would take the train from AMS-Schiphol to Station Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA.
Intercity (direction Heerlen), 16-18 minute ride (if you take a direct train without transfer). The walk should then be about 3-10 minutes. (used 1101 BA postal code as the destination). More info here on 9292.nl. They also have a very good phone APP.

Would I stay here, well, it depends. Where is your convention located SkiAdcock?
