Lo and behold, it is.
I get an email several hours after confirmation from the hotel saying "Very good rate is cancelled due to technical issue."
I show up there thinking the price went up some, but the confirmation still is online.
No, it's cancelled, says the clerk.
It's late, I am exhausted, and I ask if I can buy a room for one night.
The clerk says yes and that Expedia will refund me for the online stuff. However Expedia still has me confirmed for two nights. They do not seem to be the ones that cancelled, seems more like the hotel did. Feels like some kind of scam..
Any advice?
Conceptually: first the hotel sold a block of rooms to Expedia. Expedia then published a teaser rate. You bit. Hotel had no right to notify you of cancellation, because hotel didn't sell to you - it sold to Expedia
