Full blog post: Emirates Dublin to Dubai (external link)
'Your chauffeur has arrived'. If only every trip started with these 4 words! Dublin is one of the routes included in the chauffeur service and our 30 minute journey across town was well within the Emirates limits.
Check in was swift and our security fast passes meant we were in the lounge soon after arriving at the airport. Emirates use the generic Dublin Airport Authority lounge in Terminal 2 and it is small and basic with a limited offering. If anyone is travelling this way and wants to see more pics,
this is my blog post on it, but otherwise it's nothing of note. As is often the case with shared lounges, there's a serious disconnect between this lounge and the Emirates business class offering.
The car:
Our late booking and a busy flight meant we were fortunate to grab the last 2 seater available. Emirates have a 2-3-2 business class configuration on the Boeing 777-300ER and we were travelling as a duo. We boarded on time for our night flight out of Dublin and settled into our seats.
Well deserved champagne! Often when I take out my camera the crew offers to take photos of me. All I really want is the seat and the cabin but sure I'll take the pic of me as a bonus!
I thought the seat was great as a seat (as opposed to a bed). It was spacious and comfortable and quite private - perfect for people travelling in pairs or three in the middle but a herringbone wins for solo travel.
Food was good both ways. On the first leg they only had one of the three choices available for mains (seafood) left. I declined the seafood and they raided first class for some chicken biryani. I thought it was a bit strange they were so short as they know the loads but they came good in the end.

The bed was ok. It wasn't a fully flat bed which is always a bit of a let down but I was saving sleep for our connecting flight to Ho Chi Minh. I don't recall feeling like I was falling forward as is sometimes the case in an angled bed.. We were given a mattress cover and pillow as well as the blanket we'd received on boarding.
Overall it was a great flight. The lack of flat bed is always disappointing but I would still say it was a very good business class offering on board.
