She didn't understand. The max fees you should be looking at with no status:
$200 to cancel and redeposit miles + $75 for a close in award booking (+ optionally $200 to cancel your original ticket and get some $$ back).
She probably was looking at $200 to change + $345 difference in fare. If you call again, make it very clear you are looking at award tickets on UA541 out of JFK.
