A good reason to stick with BA is that at least I know how it works.
The website has recently been updated (I preferred the old one), so I can understand that you may have been caught out.
If you have literally just booked, call the QR call centre and see if they can cancel you (and rebook). Even if you haven't booked within the past 24 hours, call the main QR Call Centre and ask if there are any options open to you.
In terms of 7 hours at HIA, I personally wouldn't do it, but some people love the idea of an open bar!
