A rare post from me. I was on the ill-fated flight on Monday. After two hours on the ground in SNN where several engine tests took place on engine 1, engineers decided they couldn't sort the problem out so cancelled.

I was doing a HNL run so all my connections were affected ( from JFK, onwards to PHX, then HNL). Fortunately the majority of people were put on the BA1 the next day, two passengers went on a UA flight to Newark the next day, one passenger decided to cancel and went back to LHR with Aer Lingus. As for me, I told the ground staff ( who were from Swissport) to re-route me via LHR ( so joined the passenger on the EI flight) , LAX on AA 109 and onwards to HNL on AA 267. As for hotels, we stayed at the Strand in Limerick and ( after some calls to BA from a staff member who happened to be on the flight) had meals and drinks provided.

All in all it wasn't bad, I knew what flights I wanted to be on as I was looking for availability while the engineers were working on the problem just in case there was a cancellation. Extremely sad as I didn't get to sample the service ( breaking my cherry) but I did get to sample AA 777-300 service which was really good, loved the seat. Most importantly I avoided the US 757 torture between PHX and HNL😀 and got my connecting flight next day.

Spoken to BA and they will credit me with the full tier points as if I had taken the journey. When I return, I will sort out EC261/2004 ( which I emphasised to
passengers they are entitled to). Will be writing a full trip report on my
adventure.
