The latest enhancement to people's uber is a concept called 'ride sharing '.
Basically, you can save 30% if you agree to share your car with a stranger, even if there is no stranger available.
I've had mixed luck with ride sharing (e.g. saved money 5 times, wasted time 3 times).
But, let me cut to the chase. You are now REQUIRED to enter a destination when requesting people's. I always select "home", and endure driver wrath, but their goal is to incite us to input true destinations...and, this could pose problems if you don't have a destination or lack adequate language skills.
Switching gears, I think I've figured out the rationale behind ride sharing...it's a carrot for the government people that are trying to crush uber/didi.
