A few weeks ago I was mulling over options to top off my numbers before the end of the year, and they were running a sale on all kinds of places. I figured out how many miles I needed, then looked at sale flights that met that need.
For me, the criteria were:
1. enough miles to reach my goal
2. lowest cost per mile
3. ability to do a round-trip in one day, preferably a weekend day so I don't have to play hooky
4. Aisle or (preferably) window seat bookable both ways (no middle seats for me, thanks - and if I'm gonna sit in a 737 all day, I want to look at the passing landscape)
5. Knock this out in as few trips as possible - I'd rather spend one long day in coach than 3 shorter days when going places just to visit their airport.
I ultimately booked a RT SEA-FLL in late September. It met all the criteria above. I get one hour in FLL before the same plane turns around and heads home for SEA.
For that matter, anybody know the FLL airport well? I'm gonna have a short time there, and I'm thinking I might want to dash off the plane and grab a sandwich or something before the turnaround. I'll be on that 737 from around 9 am to 9 pm...of course, I'll have the option to purchase the standard AS in flight food....but if there's a reasonable alternative near the gate in FLL, I'd be inclined to give that a try. Thanks (and sorry for threadjacking).
