CSP Trip Cancellation Insurance
Newbie here with respect to this kind of insurance...but has anyone ever had experience having to use trip cancellation insurance provided through their CSP card?
We are supposed to travel over the long weekend - wife, 6-month old daughter and I, flying CVG-YYZ. The 6-month old got sick yesterday - seems like a bad cold, which isn't the end of the world in and of itself, but we're worried what her ear might be like - if that's an issue and there's a potential ear infection, we simply will not take the risk of flying with her.
I guess its a good problem to have not knowing this procedure since I've never had to use trip cancellation before, so wonder what the process is like, and what happens. I assume if we do need to cancel, there's a claim form to fill out, and we'll need forward some sort of official letter from her pediatrician. But anything else I need to know, or documents that need to be ready should I need them that they will ask for? And how long the process generally takes start to finish?
Also, what do I do with the ticket itself - it's a standard issue non-refundable ticket with a change fee, bought directly through the airline. I assume I need to cancel it with the airline prior to departure? And what happens with the funds that typically remain available for us to use with the airline - usually, there is access to the funds we've paid (after we pay the change fee). But wasn't sure what happens if we need to file the claim through CSP benefits and it is indeed approved and paid out to us.
Appreciate any advice on the process or other info. that might be helpful to know.
