I fly multiple times a year (United or Delta) to PVG. My preflight experience leaving PVG was the worst I've ever had. Checkin, passport/security, navigating Terminal 1, finding the club, boarding, everything was awful.

Checkin the gate agent couldn't tell me how to get to the club and didn't have a clue about Delta's request for volunteers that had been on the website.

Long lines in the VIP security lanes that dump you into a terminal with inadequate signage and long, narrow, dark halls. No signs to VIP club. (Never found the club - Gate 37 nowhere on signage) Confusing signs to boarding gate and no monitors in the terminal until one got to the gate.

The gate had changed from checkin and the new gate was crowded with inadequate seating, dirty with no trash cans, etc.

I went to the service desk at the gate and three agents ignored me. I had two questions to ask. Finally got to ask them and got one answered and then agent just walked away.

And the boarding was by bus gate. We took a drive along Terminal 1 that showed many China Eastern planes at jetways and no Delta planes at jetways despite many being unused.

I wonder if this is the normal experience with Delta in Terminal? It certainly didn't put me in a good mood for my Delta One experience.
