I do agree with you and normally I would not be too worried. However, in order to comply with the RTW minimum number of stops, I have one connection Italy-Germany-USA in which the two flights are on different PNRs and this is what worries me, because in case of cancellations the two flights (Italy-FRA and FRA-USA) will be rebooked independently. Plus the RTW with Skyteam is circa 500 euros cheaper ...
