wow, I've traveled with routers, laptops, all kinds of computer equipment.....checked and in carry-on.
Honestly. IMO, AC shouldn't care what you have in your bag as long as it gets through security and isnt like 30+lbs in the overhead baggage space. ( i know the limit is 20lbs )

Generally speaking though, its much more convenient to send these heavier bulkier goods with fedex or ups as then I am not liable for them and don't have to lug these heavy items around......unless of course, there's not enough time to wait for fedex.
