Best (priced) routing to NRT from LAS?
Hi guys, I just got back from Japan on my first ever revenue itinerary. I used to fly Delta non-rev but that option went away, sadly.
For some reason, when I booked the flight in June, pricing from LAS was around $1295 no matter how I routed it. LAS-LAX-NRT, LAS-SEA-NRT, LAS-MSP,NRT, LAS-LAX-PDX,NRT, etc. So I took WN to LAX round trip for $88, and booked LAX-NRT for $860.
However, about a week out from my flight, LAS-NRT was being sold for $775-800. How the heck are you supposed to plan for this???
Anyone else in LAS that flies to Tokyo (semi)frequently? Do you have a certain routing that consistently prices well? In V or better?
I am trying to check out another flight for early October and I am seeing stuff between $987.50 and $1025. I really like the service I get on Delta and the ease of attaining and maintaining status (I have met MQM but not MQD for FO) but I am tempted by the prices I see on AA and United from LAS. Frequently in the $750ish-$850ish range. Even only a couple weeks out. After reading the horror stories on here about United, I will never fly them. Even if it leads to flying on NH metal, I won't do it.
Are all of the other LAS flyers using WN or other to get to a hub and then flying Delta to NRT from there? After this last flight, I want to give up WN forever.
Thanks.
PS: HND is out as an option for me because flights arrive too late, and the departure times do not work for me either.
