I agree. I switched back to Choice in July 2014 after a very long break. Since then I have done just over 100 nights. Never experienced any of the OP's issues and have been fairly happy. The new website totally sucks now that I have been forced to use it. Otherwise, all of my stays are AAA rate, promos and points have all posted properly. There are some dumpy properties out there but tripadvisor and the reviews on the Choice website are your friend.

Tax rates and fees always vary depending on the city. The only thing that really drives me nuts is the forced safe fee. They do remove it once asked.
