Award stays don't count. It has to be an "eligible rate" as defined in Gold Passport terms and conditions, i.e. it has to be a points-earning rate. Even then, my success rate is that the bonus posts automatically, exactly one-third of the time. Two thirds of the time, it requires a phone call to Hyatt customer service to get the points posted correctly.
