CX Cabin Crew lack grace, warmth and friendliness of other asian airline crews!
I have heard many comments from CX pax recently ,more likely complaints, regarding Cathay Pacific and the fast declining standard of service. I will share a few with you:
* One pax complained after a flight that he was expecting a lot more from CX after the reputation in the 90's. It was his first time on CX and he expected it to be like the other Asian airlines ....warm, gracious and friendly hospitality. However he said the CX cabin crew (economy class) where rude, harsh and disinterested in their job. This is one comment I must say is repeated more than once...CX lacks the warmth and graciousness of say Thai, Singapore or Malaysian Airlines....even Garuda crew are freindlier than many new CX crew...I must admit. CX crew tend to "bark" instructions to pax at present, and little if any personal attention is given by new crew towards economy pax. Business and First is completely different however and is a joy for the pax.
It is interesting to note that one businesswoman flying weekly from BKK to HKG ALWAYS chooses the flights which transit BKK from India or Pakistan, because the cabin crew on those flights is usually 90% Indian or Pakistani nationality, and she says that currently those crew are the only ones who give consistently friendly, warm service!
* Aircraft seats in need of upgrade....this is another common complaint...although PTV are now on nearly all aircraft, the seats are now outdated....no winged headrest...some are getting worn and tired looking...and A340 is nightmare on flights to Australia and New Zealand...feel sorry for tall econ pax.
I think if Cathay continue to hire crew with few manners their time at the top may soon be up. With complaints about Asia Miles, Marco Polo, Crew, Fares, Aircraft and lack of PTV, there does not seem to be much in CX advantage any more.
Could this be the beginning of the end for CX ....It used to be close to Singapore Airlines in Standard....now Malaysian seem to have taken that position, and CX seem to be nearer to EVA Air!
