Broken Coolers -- How to submit claim?
Yesterday flew BIL-DEN-IAD-CHO with two large coolers. Both arrived damaged. One had vertical extension handle snapped off, despite it being fully depressed when checked and not needed for baggage transport as cooler also has good side handles.
Large wheels on second cooler were broken off in transit.
So both coolers are trashed.
United CHO was sympathetic and apologetic but said they cannot submit claim for broken handle / wheels and that I should pursue directly with United.
I have Gold Status.
Can you please advise on best strategy for getting compensation for these broken items.
