working on some research....

Longer flights, expecially on the airbus (but I've seen it on all aircraft) have an "airshow" or similarly named system on the screen or a video channel, showing the flight's progress graphically as it moves across a map.

Does anyone have any details on the actual device installed on the aircraft that generates this? Is it a PC with a video output, or some specialized device?
