+1 I don't see how BA get a gold star for service recovery on this one. Instantly refunding the fee OP should never have charged at all is a bare minimum, not a special favor. The fact remains that as a result of this avoidable error (I'm sorry, but airport staff should learn to be more careful than the rest of us in this sort of name issue) OP had unnecessary stress on a short time horizon, and then had to deal with the baggage situation too since service recovery didn't extend to doing anything genuinely inconvenient for MUC staff such as going down to look for and retag the bag. 40k for this PLUS a seat problem on a CW flight seems less than impressive given the trouble they caused.
My thoughts too
Paying for the luggage + refund etc is pretty stressful and not a pleasant experience. I'd say 40 K is OK given the fact that it was dealt with immediately but I wouldn't call this a "result"
