Kind of a strange one this, as Spire status was inititiated mid year so you if you reach Spire in 2015 you will automatically renew in Jan2016 .
In effect no different than if you started staying in IHG hotels in Jan2016, earned Spire in April 2016 and thus get the 25k Spire bonus immediately in April 2016 then again Jan2017 on renewal

Obtaiining Spire in 2015 gets one 25k right away, and with Jan2016 Spire renewal surely again

The only imminent re qualifying for Spire you can do is earn nights/points from calendar year 2016 stays to requal as Spire for 2017. Your stays in 2016 will not make you Spire again mid year 2016 as one is Spire from 1st Jan

The Spire terns say Spires get 25k/platinum choice every time you re qualify ( ie renew) as Spire, so yes I expect this in January 2016
