You don't think that Hugh Wormley-Whittingstone-Farnsworth might have a problem or two with airport staff in Chengdu? It happened, it almost certainly wasn't deliberate, the service recovery was good once underway, so please let's not make things worse than they are.
Everyone can have a problem. My experience is that the frequency and severity of the problem can and does increase the farther one gets from the pinnacle of the hierarchy.
It is a natural thing that people tend to give more care when they think someone powerful is looming rather than someone that can get kicked around and has no recourse or won't fight.
