I'm an EX-Plat. I've had all of my flights upgrade only at the airport. Typically I arrive at the gate. I'm #1 on the list. And as I move forward in the line to board, the GA gives me a new boarding pass upgraded to F. I've flown 7 times this year and as of yet I have not received email notice of upgrade. For TATL, I make sure I"m upgraded before I fly usually at the time of booking. Nobody 6"4 should have to sit in coach that long. Just my humble opinion.
