I don't think 0.5" will change anything - seats are still way too close to each other. I've flown a few times on 787 and it's terrible. During the meal service on BA flight I was not able to eat comfortably cause the person next to me was way too close. As someone else already said - there's a good reason that 787 was designed for 2-4-2 layout in economy.
