Why don't you make another res under your name and cancel his? Just have him pay you back. That way he gets the perq's, you get the points.
If it's a pay at hotel rate, then anyone can pay the final bill. Just have to reserve with your credit card. But again this topic will be frowned upon by others. My understanding though is that if you are a registered guest on a reservation, they will/can extend diamond benefits. I believe I read that.
