Many AP members collect points hoping to get a free (or near free) ticket, not a discount on a regular ticket, yet IMO nothing will change because Canadians as a group fail to apply sufficient pressure on AP or their sponsors. For all their high-pitched cries of scandal, too many continue to choose the CCs or other instruments that will get then AP (as the CBC article makes clear)......

(Bolding mine)

EXACTLY.

Nothing will change for a number of reasons, not the least of which is Canadians are generally not aggressive in their whining to force change. When various interest groups think they are overcharged for a service, for e.g., they appeal to their local politicians or the government in charge of such sundry items. Then maybe some legislation passes and a small change takes place, but more whining continues because the enacted legislation does not always have a better result.

There is a huge difference between I, the individual, who can make a difference and the Canadian Group Benefit mentality. Neither is perfect, but don't expect the same result.

(I have 2 excellent examples that have nothing to do with AC/AP, but might be conversation for another time, or the Forum Lounge Thread).
