For 2015 Spire currently has only one benefit over Platinum status, an extra 50% points bonus on spend. I would only aim for Platinum
IHG Gold has no worth like Hilton's gold so don't chase it, just gives 10% points bonus
If you buy nights with either 5k or 10k bonuses then read terms carefully as is probably PER STAY not per night so if you stay 3nights you only get 1x5k bonus
Yes sign partner up for the 4q2015 promo and stay 2/4 nights for bonus free nights. Worth doing 2x $75 nights for a free night that if used at an IC I say New York is worth 400/night
