JW Marriott Shenzhen Boa’an

As Sharon noted up thread.

This is a brand new JW on the western part of SZ. Stayed here recently, and thought I post a brief review with pics.

I flew into HKG, and transferred immediately to the LAST Shekou Ferry (of the night). Immigration and customs formality was minimal (total less than 1 minutes) as it was late at night.

From the mainland side ferry to hotel took a metered Taxi about 30 minutes and 70 RMB (but had to queue and wait for 20 minutes). There were many unlicensed offers. I am sure day time taxi will be plentiful. I find transiting from HKG to Shenzhen, use the Shekou Ferry is most convenient for me, especially I would fly out from SZX days later.

Not to be confused with the older JW Hotel Shenzhen in town, this new hotel is located in the District of Bao’An. (BTW, it is not that close to Bao'an airport, but not far either; taxi 70 RMB). It’s full name is JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen Bao’an.

This hotel opened on Feb 01, 2015. Executive Lounge was open only a few weeks prior to our arrival. Spa had yet to open (should be by now) during our stay. The top floor restaurant was being furnished.

UG’d to a suite on a high floor. The suite is well appointed. It is as good as any other JW in Asia that I had stayed in, and miles ahead of US properties. Good service by Lounge staff team, and restaurant staff.

Breakfast for Elites was available in the lobby restaurant called The Kitchen or in the Executive Lounge. We opted for The Kitchen where large (outrageously huge) selection of Chinese & western fares were offered (even some Indian food). Cook to order available for eggs and noodles. Service was excellent!

Met the new Director of Restaurant (knew him from St Regis across town). He was so new that he didn't even have his business card!

I used to stay at the other JW or the SPG St Regis. Now Boa’an will be my new short term Shenzhen abode, as long as they UG me to a suite! ha ha!

Here are bunch of images of the hotel.

A metro station is about 7 minutes away. There is a public library on the way to the metro. Other than that I didn’t explore much around the hotel. There are dozens of apartments/condos 2-3 miles away where there shops and restaurants.
