Figured this was the best thread to ask, as I'm departing MEL after a short trip next week with carry on only.

I took my family to MEL for New Years, but because we had to check bags on the return MEL-LAX, I didn't think about the possibility of traveling without checked bags. Will I still need to visit the check-in counter for the departure card, or is there another option I'm not aware of?
